Full description
The standard was prepared by Committee FP/5, Reporting Fires. It was approved on behalf of the Council of the Standards Association of Australia on 21 September, 1982 and published on 7 February, 1983.
This standard identifies a set of common data elements relating to fires for collection on a national basis together with the codings for this information and a model form on which the information can be recoded. The data elements are compatible with those of the United States National Fire Incident Reporting System and the New Zealand Fire Incident Reporting Scheme. This standard was based on a model form for reporting fires. It was designed to enable information to be processed by computer. The form was designed to be completed by a fireman at the scene of the incident.
This volume is divided into sections A-U and examples which deal with areas such as method of alarm, type of situation found, type of action taken and aid given, number of fire service personnel in attendance and property damage.
AS2577 appears to have been replaced in 1992 by two standards AS2577-1 Australian Fire incident reporting system - description and implementation and AS 2577-2 Australian Fire Incident reporting system - classification and coding.
