This series contains minutes of the monthly meetings held by the Radiological Advisory Council and from 9 May 1978 those of the Medical Licensing Sub-Committee of the Council.
Matters discussed at the meeting include: courses in radiography including chiropractic examinations, licence conditions for medical radiographers, staff training in radiation procedures and radiation safety, the use radiological substances and equipment including CAT scans and x-rays, legislation relevant to radiation, and prosecutions for misuse of radiological equipment and substances. The first two volumes in the series also contain typed reports of the Council and the names, addresses and area of medical expertise of doctors applying for and renewing licences.
Minutes from the Sub-Committee contain licence applications from hospital administrators, medical radiographers and dentists, licensing guidelines, as well as the roles and functions of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The Sub-Committee also dealt with safety procedures in using radiation and x-rays.
The papers attached to the minutes include: newspaper articles, reports from the Department of Health, maps, diagrams, inspection reports, monthly statistics of radiation dosages, reports of radiological incidents, technical papers, conditions of licences issued to chiropractors and letters from patients.
