Full description
This volume is consists of an original report dated 9 September, 1920, by the Committee of Engineers on the Burrinjuck Dam spillways. The members of the Committee were H.H. Dare, Commissioner, Water Conservation and Irrigation Committee, J.J.C. Bradfeild, Chief Engineer, Metropolitan Railway Construction, and E.M de Burgh, Chief Engineer, Water Supply and Sewerage. The report examines provision for floods in the original design of the dam, and after analysing historical information about floods in the vicinity suggests that the slipways may not be adequate. Revised plans were prepared by the Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission and experimental models were made to test recommendations.
Attached to the report are experimental observations and calculations of the capacity of the spillways at Burrinjuck Dam, photographs of the experiments conducted on spillway models, and folded linen-backed plans of the models. The photographs are dated and there are explanations of the experiments they depict.
