Full description

The first ceremonial parade was held in December 1964 of fire-fighters who successfully completed the Brigades; Confirmation of Appointment Examinations. This ceremonial function marks the entry of permanent fire-fighters into a career of public protection. The current parade consists of successful candidates at the examinations held between January and December of each year.

The National Medal is awarded to members of the defence force; police, fire and ambulance services throughout Australia in recognition of fifteen years service. Upon completion of each further period of ten years service, a Clasp to the National Medal is awarded.

This series consists of the official programs for the passing our parade and National Medal presentations held in September, 1988 and October 1989. These booklets contain the following: list of officials present at the ceremony, order of proceedings. There is a brief history of the passing out parade and of the national medal. This is followed by is a list of graduating fire-fighters arranged according to their class with class photographs of the officers. There is a list of recipients of the National Medal arranged in order of years of service.
