Full description

The first ceremonial parade was held in December 1964 of fire-fighters who successfully completed the Brigades; Confirmation of Appointment Examinations. This ceremonial function marks the entry of permanent fire-fighters into a career of public protection. The current parade consists of successful candidates at the examinations held between January and December of each year.

The National Medal is awarded to members of the defence force; police, fire and ambulance services throughout Australia in recognition of fifteen years service. Upon completion of each further period of ten years service, a Clasp to the National Medal is awarded.
