The volume consists of copies of some of the many returns prepared by the Surveyor General's office and includes: returns of land granted; returns of surveyors and surveys carried out by each; return of the officers employed in the Department of the Surveyor General; returns of lands granted for religious and other public purposes; returns prepared for the Select Committee into the Survey Department, 1858; return of the officers employed in the Department of the Chief Commissioner of Crown Lands, 1837-58; and return of roads proclaimed, 1856-64.
