These are letters transmitting orders to survey grants of land for individuals and transmitting deeds for registration in the Survey Office. Other letters deal with such matters as objections to the selection of particular portions of land for grant, and directing the Surveyor General to furnish individuals with authority to select land. Other matters included in these records are the appointment, salaries, promotions etc. of surveyors, draftsmen and clerks in the Survey Department, the carrying out of the general survey of the colony and the laying out of towns and villages.
