These papers include oaths taken on 13 February 1788 by Captain Arthur Phillip as Governor of New South Wales, a copy of the First Charter of Justice (1787), a copy of the Second Charter of Justice (1814), oaths of office of Francis Grose as Lieutenant Governor (1792), oaths of office of Lieutenant Colonel William Paterson as Lieutenant Governor (1794), and oaths of office of Captain John Hunter as Governor (1795).
They also include many other documents, including: papers re attempted mutiny at Norfolk Island (1789), proclamations re runaways (1797), live stock in the colony (1797-1803), papers re deaths on transport Britannia (1797), Isaac Nichols' inn license (1798), reports of meetings re insurrection of Irish rebels (1800), extracts from orderly book (1795-1801), proclamation re establishment of penal settlements (1826), magistrates removed by Governor Bourke (1836), recognisances of newspaper proprietors (1842) certificate of appointment of the first Mayor of Sydney (1842), petition to Judges of the first Law Society (1843) and power of attorney of Thomas Watt when leaving in Kennedy's exploring expedition.
