This series includes files relating to the planning of Civil Defence and the provision of Emergency Services in the event of nuclear or conventional warfare, reports on major conferences and exercises, copies of addresses, information supplied to members at Parliament, files concerning relations with the media and reactions of the Civil Defence Organisation to the media presentations, relations with the Commonwealth Directorate of Civil Defence, and evacuation planning.

This series also contains files relating to the operations of the State Emergency Services in major floods and bushfires.

Correspondence files from the Bush Fire Council have also been incorporated into this series.
