The State Cancer Council provides over one million dollars annually for cancer research projects. Because its resources are limited, applications for research grants go before the Research Grants Committee. Since 1984 independent referees have assisted the Committee in its decision making.

These files have been retained as a sample of the types of applications the Council receives. The Council's Annual Report contains summaries of all relevant information relating to grants awarded in each year.
