These are letters from the Colonial Secretary concerning improvements to the Gardens, instructions to the Superintendent and later the Director, as well as from individuals concerning the collection of specimens, the cultivation of cotton in the colony and a list of specimens of sub-tropical plants collected by Sir Thomas Mitchell during his expedition into tropical Australia in 1846.

The proceedings of the Committee cover the period from 9 June-18 August 1836.
