This series superseded the Registers of newspaper recognizances and affidavits (see series No.13000) as the system of registers was abolished in 1963 and the card system was then introduced. The index duplicates all entries in the registers to 1963 and continues to 1973 when the function of registering newspapers was transferred to the Chief Secretary's Department.
