This is a typescript copy of a report prepared by Frederick J. Smith and Johnson, Public Accountants, for the Chief Commissioner. The report is specifically concerned with three matters: a critical survey of the revenue results for twelve months ended 30 June 1921, comparing such results with those for the years ended 30 June 1908 and 1914; a broad view of the existing railways accounting system; and, a review of the operations of the railways for the year ended 30 June 1921 and comparisons with those of other Australian states and other countries.
