Full description
These files are samples only. They deal with the administration, by the Protective Office, of the financial affairs of individuals admitted to mental institutions. The files contain notices of admission and discharge of the patient, usually only giving names and addresses of relatives. No medical information is given. The files contain such financial and administrative matters as the payment of bills and fees (eg. medical, hospital), receipts for income (eg. pension cheques), details of bank and trust accounts, mortgages, real estate matters, insurance payments and claims, and other routine accounting matters. If a patient dies there is also correspondence concerning the execution of the will (particularly insofar as the Protective Office can claim from the estate any expenses incurred by the Office on the deceased's behalf).
