Full description

These records comprise working papers and include copies of documents relating to the 1976 Olympic Games held in Montreal and reports on other Olympic Games proposals (eg. Los Angeles). They contain cost and feasibility studies, proposed venues, and examination of the Melbourne bid for the Olympic Games 1988, newscuttings and photographs. A copy of the New South Wales Government's submission to the Australian Olympic Federation, requesting permission to apply to the International Olympic Committee to hold the 1988 Olympic Games in Sydney, is also included. Cabinet decided in June 1979 not to bid to stage the Games in Sydney.
