Full description

Most of these files were originally created by the Advanced Education Board (1969-75) and the Higher Education Board (1976-88) which were the bodies preceding the Higher Education Unit of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Women's Affairs. The function of these agencies was to make reports and recommendations to the Minister for Education on the general planning of higher education in New South Wales, including academic development, financial arrangements and the provision of research facilities and legal services.

The files relate to: acquisition of sites for tertiary education; minutes of meetings with the Teachers' Federation; funding formulae for tertiary institutions; amendments to legislation relating to tertiary institutions; assessment and development of tertiary courses; statistics relating to student numbers and courses; enquiries and complaints regarding tertiary institutions; requests for information from the Ministry; and policy regarding tertiary institutions both in general and in particular instances.
