The information given in each register includes: local number of application; date of application; names of applicants; description of lease; area; amount paid; date of notice to survey; name of surveyor; and when sent to the Warden or Department.


Additional information given in volume 7/219 includes the date and hour of taking possession, lease number or if refused, notation of refusal giving date and remarks, such as term, and if cancelled when. Memoranda re transfer of leases, amalgamations of leases and other papers relating to gold leases are appended.
Volume 7/218 also contains earlier entries for gold lease applications which, prior to the coming into force of the Mining Act of 1874 on 1 May 1874 were under the control of the Gold Commissioners.
