This is a guide published by the New South Wales Electrolysis Committee. The Electrolysis Committee was established in 1932 to provide guidance to the Electricity Authority on the control of stray currents and their effects on buried structures.Under the Electricity Act 1945, and the Cathodic Protection Regulations 1973, cathodic protection systems and railway drainage systems installed in the State of New South Wales must be approved and registered by the relevant authority. At the time of preparation of this Guide that authority was vested in the Director General of the Department of Minerals and Energy of New South Wales.
