Full description Wet-season burning (WSB) is increasingly viewed as an option to reduce fuel loads and improve outcomes for biodiversity and bush tucker. In Kakadu National Park (KNP), WSB is being done at large scales using aerial burning and at smaller scales using on-ground burning. This project will work in partnership with Traditional Owners and Parks Australia to investigate 5 interrelated components of WSB: Indigenous knowledge and cultural indicators, spatial and temporal paterns, fuel dynamics and fire behaviour, ecological outcomes and economic costs. The outcomes of this will support fire management within KNP and tropical savannas more broadly.
