Full description

The National HealthDirect health facilities product contains three databases presenting the spatial locations in point format of Hospitals, General Practitioners (GP) and Pharmacies

Lineage

Statement: Data was downloaded from the National Health Services Directory (NHSD) API and processed through a series of python scripts and FME workbenches to create a geospatial database. The data was then reduced to a subset to match previous Geoscience Australia (GA) Health Facility datasets which included available Aged Care, General Practi ce, Hospitals and Pharmacy services. Aged Care services were subsequently removed from the NHSD so were removed from GA’s subset spatial database. A small selection of NHSD attributes were carried through to the final dataset for provenance purposes. Data download: March 2024: Extract from NHSD database performed. Release: June 2024: Public release of GA’s NHSD web service and datasets.
