Mr Sheahan was Minister for Health from March 1956-May 1965.
Bundle [9/1095.1] contains miscellaneous correspondence relating to public hospitals, the introduction of fluoridation, and proposed amendments to Dentists Act. Also included are draft statements for Cabinet press releases and other speeches made to various groups.
[9/1095.2] is a file relating to Sydney Hospital and the proposed second Medical School at the University of New South Wales, 1956-66, and [9/1095.3] to the proposed amendments to the Medical Practitioners Act, 1961-62.
[9/1095.4] contains documents, mainly photocopies, relating to Mr A.H. Stuart, a former General Manager of the Sydney Morning Herald, who was incarcerated in the Bay View Private Hospital, Tempe as a lunatic, 1942-59. (1)
[9/1095.5] contains correspondence and reports, 1959-62, relating to Callan Park Mental Hospital, and the allegations made by Dr Bailey, the Medical Superintendent at Callan Park, which led to the Royal Commission on Callan Park in 1961, and [9/1095.6] the report of the Hospitals Commission of New South Wales on Royal Newcastle Hospital and the dispute involving the Board, the Medical Superintendent and medical staff.
