Research Project
Full description Male humpback whale behaviour (singing v non-singing) from 1997 to 2015. Data were collected at a population level using daily surveys with inferences made on the sex of migrating animals using biopsy results. Data were collected at an individual level by focally following male humpback whales and determining whether or not they sang, under what social circumstances they started and stopped singing, and their outcome in terms of joining with females.
