This collection comprises broadband MT measurements from 30 survey sites located within South Australia, including a continuously recording remote-reference station at one of the SA sites. These sites form part of a larger gridded MT survey spanning South Australia and Victoria. Survey sites were deployed in a regular grid configuration designed to infill and enhance existing regional MT coverage from the AusLAMP program and earlier state-based surveys, with an average site spacing of approximately 25 km. The broader survey comprised 54 unique MT station locations distributed across the Newer Volcanic Province. This collection represents the South Australian component of the 2019 Newer Volcanic Province MT survey. Together with the companion Victorian collection, it provides a broadband MT dataset suitable for investigating lithospheric structure and geodynamic processes beneath the Newer Volcanic Province and for integration with regional geophysical datasets. Lineage

Data in this collection were acquired as part of the broader 2019 Newer Volcanic Province broadband magnetotelluric (MT) survey, which spanned South Australia and Victoria. This collection contains the South Australian component of that survey. Field acquisition was conducted in August 2019 using a regular grid configuration designed to infill and enhance existing regional MT coverage from the AusLAMP program and earlier state-based surveys. The broader survey comprised 54 unique MT station locations, including 30 sites located within South Australia. A continuously recording remote-reference station was operated within South Australia for the duration of the survey. Field acquisition employed LEMI-423 broadband magnetotelluric systems hosted by the University of Adelaide and accessed through the AuScope - ANSIR Research Facility for Earth Sounding. The instrumentation was acquired through a combination of Geological Survey of South Australia and AuScope NCRIS funding. Continued availability of the instrumentation pool is supported through ongoing NCRIS investment via AuScope, including maintenance, calibration, refurbishment, and operational management activities. AuScope is supported by the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). Data acquisition within South Australia was funded by the Geological Survey of South Australia through its PACE Copper program. This collection documents the acquisition history, instrumentation, funding sources, and operational context associated with the South Australian component of the 2019 Newer Volcanic Province MT survey and provides provenance information for all derived datasets.
