Whole-rock geochemical analyses of mafic volcanic rocks from the Fortescue Group in the Hamersley Basin of WA. The files contain 254whole-rock analyses, most of which are unpublished.
Lineage: Sampling of mafic volcanic rocks of the Fortescue Group by R E Smith commenced in October, 1973, through to June 1978. The purpose was (a) to establish the metamorphic framework for the Hamersley Basin, and (b) to gain an understanding of metasomatic alteration (hydrothermal alteration) of the volcanic rocks which was conspicuous in the field.
