Brief description

The Bureau of Mineral Resources conducted a combined seismic and detailed gravity survey in 1977 to investigate the nature and structure of the Toko Syncline in the Georgina Basin and the nature of the Toomba fault which forms the southwest margin of the syncline. The survey recorded a total of 285 km of reflection coverage mainly with six-fold common-depth-point recording, but some twelve-fold in the area of the Toomba Fault. Raw data for this survey are available on request from clientservices@ga.gov.au - Quote eCat# 74976

Statement: The Eromanga Basin contains Lower Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous sediments; the Jurassic sequence is mainly terrestrial, the Lower Cretaceous is shallow marfre, and the Upper Cretaceous grades from paralle to fluvial and lacustrine. The basin has been divided for descriptive purposes by BMR into northern, central, and northwestern parts.structure contour maps of the base of the Lower Cretaceous Rolling Downs Group and the base of the Lower Jurassic to Cretaceous Eromanga Basin sequence were acquired. In addition, information was compiled on the sediments and structures of the underlying parts of the Georgina, Pedirka, and Amadeus Basins, in an attempt to indicate the main deficiencies in knowledge of the concealed parts of the older basins; these deficiencies were further considered by Mathur, Moss, & Bauer (1975) in proposing future land seismic investigations by the BMR. Seismic traverse locaticns and an index of the four BMR seismic surveys and 23 seismic surveys maCe under the Petroleum Search Subsidy Acts (1959-1974).
