Full description

The Kosciusko State Park Act, 1944 (Act No.14, 1944) established the Kosciusko State Park Trust in 1944. (1) The Act established the Minister to be a member of the Trust and the chairman. The remaining members of the Trust were appointed by the Governor. (2) Of the members appointed (a) one was to be appointed on the nomination of the Minister and was to be an officer of the Department of Lands; (b) one was to be appointed on the nomination of the Premier and was to be an officer of the Public Service; (c) one was to be appointed on the nomination of the Minister to be the representative of the Forestry Commission of New South Wales; (d) one was to be appointed on the nomination of the Minister as a representative of the Director of the Soil Conservation Service; (e) one was to be appointed on the nomination of the Minister to be a representative of the Government Tourist Bureau and (f) two were to be appointed on the nomination of the Minister. (3)

Kosciusko State Park (Amendment) Act, 1947 (Act No.26, 1947) added a further two members to be appointed by the Minister. (4)

The Kosciusko State Park (Amendment) Act, 1952 (Act No.57, 1952) provided that the Minister could (a) grant leases of land within the Kosciusko State Park for the purpose of (i) the erection thereon of accommodation hotels or accommodation houses; (ii) the provision thereon of facilities and amenities for tourists and visitors; (b) grant leases of land within the Kosciusko State Park on which accommodation hotels or accommodation houses have been erected or facilities and amenities for tourists and visitors have been provided. (5)

The Kosciusko State Park (Amendment) Act, 1963 (Act No.45, 1963) validated payments made to the Kosciusko State Park Trust Fund for leases in the Park. (6)

The National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1967 (Act No.35, 1967) repealed the Kosciusko State Park Acts from 1 October 1967 and abolished the Kosciusko State Park Trust, replacing it with Trustees for the Kosciusko National Park. (7)
