It gave birth to a calf. Then it hid its baby calf beside the banana plant. And it was going out to find food while it was hiding its baby beside the banana plant. When it looked back to the place where the baby was, it saw the movements of banana leaves. Then it felt happy with the thought of My baby is there. After some time, it looked back again. Then the banana leaves were moving because of the wind. It thought that its baby was still there. So it found food the whole day happily. After some time, it felt breast engorgement, then it went to its baby to feed milk. Unfortunately, its baby was eaten by a tiger. Its baby was not there where it put, so it was so angry. It felt extremely sad and angry. So it shook all of the banana plants and destroyed them. Because of that, the buffalo becomes an enemy with the banana plant till now. Whenever it sees the banana plant, it wants to destroy since it feels angry. Transcription (Lu Hkawng) Moi shawng de wuloi kanu langai mi gaw kasha hkrat ai da. Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Many years ago, there was a buffalo in a village. It gave birth to a calf. Then it hid its baby calf beside the banana plant. And it was going out to find food while it was hiding its baby beside the banana plant. When it looked back to the place where the baby was, it saw the movements of banana leaves. Then it felt happy with the thought of "My baby is there." After some time, it looked back again.
