A total of 99 Indonesian lipsticks were analysed by infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. Five repeat measurements were obtained from each lipstick as a model calibration set, and an additional five repeat measurements obtained from 34 of the lipsticks as a separate validation set. Chemometric analysis was performed to visualise groupings amongst the lipstick set, then to construct and test a model for predicting the identity of an unknown lipstick based on its infrared spectrum.
