These registers contain a summary record of all the Homestead Farm tenures in the Land District of Grafton, kept by the Grafton Lands Office.
The Homestead Farm tenure was introduced in 1912. Upon compliance with conditions, such as fencing the external boundaries of the land, a perpetual lease grant could be issued to the lessee. The lessee was subject to the payment of a half-yearly rent but, during the first five years, the lessee could expend an equal sum on improvements.
These registers record information such as the year and number of the Homestead Farm, name and address of applicant, legal date of application, area applied for, date of confirmation, date of issue of grant, name and address of transferee, date of transfer, date of letter notifying registration of transfer, description of the land applied for, including Capital Value, payments made, period paid for, dates of payment, value of improvements and any further remarks. Payments recorded include: survey fee, amounts of rent paid, interest on late payments, date of payment and half year ending.
