Full description
This series consists of handbooks from Charles Sturt University (CSU), beginning in 1990, one year after the Charles Sturt University Act of 1989 was enacted. The handbooks were produced to give students and staff ready access to both generalised and specific information concerning the University. For 1990 and 1991, each campus of CSU produced its own handbook containing pertinent information for the specific campus, along with course and subject information. However, by 1992 the handbook was consolidated into one volume for the entire University. In 1996, the University decided that two handbooks should be produced each year – an Undergraduate handbook and a Postgraduate handbook.
The type of information contained in the handbooks included: a brief history of the University’s precursor institutions; the functions of the University; the administrative and academic organisation of the University; the membership of Councils and Committees; a list of the staff employed at the University; facilities and services available to students and staff (eg. library and research centres); financial information for students including fee structures; campus information; the academic calendar for the year; details concerning academic regulations; the courses offered by each Faculty; specific subject descriptions and details of awards, prizes, traineeships and scholarships.
