Geoscience Australia Product Catalogue CSW

Full description

This OGC Catalogue Service for the Web (CSW) provides access to Geoscience Australia's official catalogue of geoscientific and geospatial resources. The Geoscience Australia Product Catalogue contains metadata conforming to the ISO 19115-1 Geographic Information metadata standard, describing resource types including datasets, publications, services, models, software and more. The CSW provides a standards based interface for machines to search and retrieve metadata in the catalogue.

Lineage

Statement: The first implementation of a CSW for GA's product catalogue was around 2011, based on an extract of the then Geocat relational database containing GA's product metadata. The metadata were extracted as ISO 19139 XML documents and imported into an early version of GeoNetwork which provided a CSW 2.0.2 interface. In 2016, GA's product catalogue was moved out of the Geocat relational database to a solution hosted entirely within the GeoNetwork metadata catalogue application (inclusive of CSW), using the Anzmest fork of GeoNetwork 2.10.x. The metadata were extracted as ISO 19115-3:2016 XML documents and imported into the GeoNetwork metadata catalogue. The new system was named eCat. In 2018, the eCat system (inclusive of CSW) was upgraded to GeoNetwork 3.2. http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/cat
