The Fiordland Seismological Sounding of Landslides and Earthquakes (FISSLE) project deployed distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) near Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park, Southland Region, New Zealand, to investigate avalanche and landslide detection along the Milford Sound Highway (SH6). The DAS experiment ran from June 2024 to February 2025, and the DAS data were collected using Silixa iDAS2 interrogator enabled by AuScope. Between 2024-11-30 and 2024-12-16, the fibre-optic cable was severed at approximately 500 m along the fibre from the interrogator, interrupting data acquisition and quality during this period. In conjunction with the DAS deployment, a small SmartSolo nodal array (FDSN network code: 4K) was operated from 2024-09-24 to 2024-10-23. Level-0 DAS data consist of raw time-series recorded in integer counts, stored in Silixa proprietary TDMS format with a sampling rate of 500 Hz. Level-1 DAS data are decimated to 100 Hz and converted from raw integer counts to strain-rate, stored in HDF5 format. The channel spacing is set at 4 m. No spatial decimation is applied to Level-1 dataset.
