Brief description

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are pulses of radio emission which last only a few milliseconds. The Parkes Radio Telescope is the premiere instrument for discovering these objects. Here we provide the data wherein 7 FRBs were discovered in a variety of formats, including the raw pulsar survey search mode format, and some reduced formats.

Full description

For each FRB there are 13 search mode files in filterbank (.fil) format. Three of the FRBs were recorded using the analogue filterbank system (AFB, now decommissioned) and the other four using the Berkeley-Parkes-Swinburne Recorder (BPSR, the current state of the art). The time and frequency resolution varies for the bursts - the AFB burst data spans 288-MHz of bandwidth with time resolution ranging from 0.125-1.000 ms, the BPSR data spans 400 MHz with 0.064 ms time resolution. The AFB data is also presented in SCAMP format (a format that pre-dates the current .fil standard). For all of the FRBs archive files (psrfits format) and ascii files are also provided. Supplementary text files give information on the file formats, and the dispersion measure and time of each burst within the files.

Filterbank data can be processed and searched for bursts using the Heimdall single pulse software package (http://sourceforge.net/projects/heimdall-astro/) and archive files can be analyzed and plotted using the PSRCHIVE software package (http://psrchive.sourceforge.net/). Both are publicly available tools and can be downloaded in conjunction with these data for analysis. Furthermore several useful FRB analysis scripts/codes can be found on github (https://github.com/evanocathain/Useful_FRB_stuff).
