Evidence for Limited Competition from Illusory Faces During Peripheral Face Detection

Research Project

Full description This project investigated how the human visual system balances sensitivity to face-like structures with selectivity for genuine faces in complex visual scenes. Using eye-tracking and EEG measures, we found that peripheral vision is specialised for detecting and spatially localising genuine faces, even though illusory faces reduced detection accuracy.
