Full description

The Eucalyptus dumosa and Eucalyptus pauciflora drought experiment dataset contains raw and summary data and associated metadata relating to an investigation into the effects of drought on the polar metabolites of two species of Eucalyptus, E. dumosa and E. pauciflora

Seeds of Eucalyptus dumosa and Eucalyptus pauciflora seedlings were obtained from the Australian Seed Centre in Kingston, ACT.   Water stress treatments (moderate and severe water stress) were administered against a control.  Samples from leaf tissue were removed, frozen in liqud nitrogen and stored at -80 Celcius.  Metabolites were extracted from the freeze-dried leaf samples using a solution of hot methanol, chloroform and water, and were anaysed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry.  Technical details of the treatments, measurement methods and resulting instrument data are available within the Environmental Metabolomics Information System (EMIS) https://emis.sydney.edu.au/.  Analytical sample files in are able to be downloaded from EMIS in NetCDF and .qgd format, and summary files are available in .CSV format.  For further information, detailed description of materials, treatments, GC-MS methods and results of the experiment, please refer to the associated journal publication listed below.
