Brief description
The E. globulus P experiment dataset includes raw and summary data and associated metadata relating to an investigation into how phosporus (P) supply or deficiency affects gas exchange and polar metabolites of the seedlings of the evergreen tree Eucalyptus globulus.
Within the experiment, twenty Eucalyptus globulus seedlings were grown, and four varying treatments of phosphorous (P) were administered. After 2.5 months of P treatment, gas exchange parameters and CO2 response of photosynthesis were measured. Plants were harvested one day after gas exchange parameters were measured. Two leaves were sampled from each plant. Samples were frozen in liqud nitrogen and stored at -80 Celcius. Metabolites were extracted from the freeze-dried leaves and anaysed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) using three methods (TMS splitless, TMS split, and tBDMS amino acids). Technical details of the treatments, measurement methods and resulting instrument data are available within the Environmental Metabolomics Information System (EMIS) https://emis.sydney.edu.au/. Analytical sample files in are able to be downloaded from EMIS in NetCDF and .qgd format, and summary files are available in .CSV format. For further information, detailed description of treatments, GC-MS methodology and results of the experiments, please refer to the associated journal publication below.
