Full description
The overall aim of this project was to characterise pathways through which individual and everyday contextual factors affect food choices at eating occasions and their role in cardiometabolic health. Adult participants aged 18 to 64 years completed an online survey (n=348), and attended a research clinic where blood pressure and anthropometry were measured. They were instructed to provide fasting blood samples for a range of cardiometabolic indicators (n=125), complete three online 24-hour dietary recalls using ASA24-Australia, and to wear a wearable camera and SenseWear armband for 7-days. Images of eating contextual factors collected from the wearable camera image have been annotated using a purpose built database and AI models in collaboration with researchers from Dublin City University. Analysis of the data from this project will be used to inform the development of personalised nutrition strategies that consider everyday eating situations and promote heart healthy eating patterns. This project received ethics approval from the Deakin University Human Research Ethics Committee (approval number: 2021-267). Subjects
