Dr Seton's research interests are in the field of marine geophysics and geodynamics, in particular examining the links between plate tectonic and mantle processes. Dr Seton is also interested in the kinematic controls on subduction and back-arc basin formation and the relationship between tectonics and palaeo-climate and tectonics and ore-deposit formation.
