Differentially expressed proteins in pleural effusion extracellular vesicles to distinguish Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma from other malignant and benign effusions by SWATH-MS

Research Project

Full description Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare type of cancer affecting serosa that lines body cavities, most commonly pleura. The extracellular vesicle (EV) compartment of pleural fluid could be selectively enriched with protein cargo specific for pathologic entities responsible for pleural effusions. Therefore, the protein cargo of pleural fluid EV (PFEV) was studied with the aim of identifying specific protein candidates of MPM capable of distinguishing it from other causes of pleural effusion.
