Development of offshore floating closed-containment fish farms

Research Project

Full description The project aims to develop solutions for floating closed containment fish farms, for them to be deployed in higher energy offshore environments, by addressing the challenges with sloshing. In this investigation, a 2D representation of a fish farm is studied under forced horizontal excitations and the applicability of different slosh suppression methods is determined. The concept of slosh suppression blocks is put forward as a promising solution for making floating closed-containment fish farms slosh proof and suitable for operating in higher energy environments. The data set contains the free surface elevations during steady-state oscillations for different slosh mitigation configurations. Both numerical and experimental data is included.
