ToF-SIMS analysis of silane coated silica, modified for the purpose of removal of humic acid from drinking water.\n\nThe surface of these silica particles had been modified through a process of plasma polymerisation, which resulted in coating with an amine adduct. These sands are to be used in water treatment to help remove undesirable contaminants, such as humic acid.
