This volume was kept as an original entry record of stores issued to certain specified departments, the articles being supplied on approved requisitions for the service of the Military and Convicts. In some cases, the articles supplied were raw materials from which other articles were manufactured (eg. clothing made in the Female Factory).The series is arranged into the following sections:-
- Stores issued to the Royal Engineer's Department 19 January 1839-31 December 1842. The record shows: date of issue of stores, articles issued and quantities, purpose or name of establishment for which articles were required.
- Stores issued to the Colonial Storekeeper's Department for use of the Police Establishments, 7 October-16 November 1842. Similar details as for the Royal Engineer's Department are recorded.
- Record of paper issued to the Contractors for Printing Office Forms for Government Departments, 9 January 1839-21 December 1842. Details include date of issue, description and quantity of paper issued, types and forms for which paper was required and quantities.
- Materials issued to the Female Factory, Parramatta, 11 January 1839-10 November 1842 for clothing manufacture. There is a record of materials issued and of articles of clothing received, the entries being arranged by debit and credit eg.
a) Debit column shows date of issue, materials issued, quantities, and purpose (ie. type of clothing to be manufactured).
b) Credit column records date when articles of clothing were received from the Factory, description of clothing and quantities, remarks. - Items issued to the Commissariat Stores, 11 January 1839-31 December 1842, for the manufacture of articles of hardware required. Also included are lists of goods received from Prison Ships. There are separate columns for materials issued and articles received.
- Stores issued to the Barrack Department, 27 April 1839-31 December 1842. Details shown are: date of issue, requisition number, articles and quantities issued, remarks. When given the requisition number may be traced in the series Register of approved requisitions fulfilled, 1840-44 (4/420).
- Materials supplied to various sections of the Ordnance Storekeeper's Department, 1 January 1839-31 December 1841, for manufacture or conversion into articles required. The record takes the form of monthly summaries of items issued to, and manufactured articles received from the Carpenter, Armory and Laboratory. The purpose for which the articles are required is shown.
Receipts were apparently made out each quarter for stores issued, and annotations to this effect were made in the volume at the end of entries each quarter, with the signature of an Ordnance Officer.
