The Museum of Ancient Cultures at Macquarie University, Sydney, holds some 700 papyri, mainly in Greek, but also in other languages and scripts, such as Demotic and Coptic (Egyptian). Most are written on papyrus, but the collection also includes some texts on ostraca (potsherd), parchment, and wood. The collection includes 7 contracts, written in Greek or Coptic on papyrus, which come from Egypt and date to the Ptolemaic, Roman and Late Roman Early Islamic period.
