The Broken Hill Fire Brigade was established in 1887 as a volunteer organisation of 15 men under the captaincy of Robert Fullarton. (1)
In 1891 a piece of land in Blende Street, Broken Hill was dedicated as a site for a Fire station and this was built the following year by the local Council. (2)
The Broken Hill Fire Brigade Board was formed in January 1894 under the Fire Brigades Act, 1884 and the local officer was appointed Superintendent of the Broken Hill Fire Brigade. (3)
In 1905 a small area was added to the fire station site. (4)
The Broken Hill Fire Brigade Board continued until 31/12/1909 when its functions were taken by the Board of Fire Commissioners, in pursuance of the section 13 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1909. (5)
In 1962 a new fire station was erected on land which had been purchased in 1917 opposite the earlier station. A library was built on the former fire station site. (6)
In 2000 the Broken Hill Fire Station the address of the Broken Hill Fire Station was 248 Blende Street, Broken Hill (7)
