Full description

Australia’s Energy Commodity Resources (AECR) is Geoscience Australia’s annual publication presenting a stocktake of our nation’s non-renewable energy commodity resources—gas, oil, coal, and uranium—as well as the status of emerging low carbon solutions including carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen and geothermal energy resources.

AECR provides important data on Australia’s energy resources, production and trade, highlighting Australia’s diverse energy resource mix, export capacity, and its contributions to the economy, energy security, emissions reduction, CCS, and renewable hydrogen.

Lineage

Maintenance and Update Frequency: annually
Statement: Between 2010 and 2018 Geoscience Australia published the Australia’s Energy Resource Assessment (AERA) and associated updates. Geoscience Australia has conducted annual assessments of Australia's energy commodity resources since 2020.

Notes

Purpose
An annual assessment of Australia’s energy commodity reserves and resources providing information about Australia’s remaining recoverable resources of gas, oil, coal, uranium and thorium; production; trends; usage and outlook.
