Brief description
The Norfolk Island Nearshore and Coastal Habitat Mapping was acquired by Ocean Infinity Pty Ltd onboard the M/V Offshore Solution from the 21st to the 24th July 2021, using a Kongsberg EM2040 Mark II. This survey was part of the Norfolk Island Nearshore and Coastal Habitat Mapping project in partnership with Deakin University’s Marine Mapping Group, University of Wollongong, Tellus4D Geoimaging, University of Newcastle, University of New South Wales, University of Tasmania and Geoscience Australia to obtain high resolution bathymetric grid (1m) and to define the morpho-bathymetry of the survey area based on the bathymetric grid and derived products such as slope aspect map, ruggedness map, bathymetry position index and backscatter map. This dataset contains a 1m-resolution 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF file of the bathymetry in the study area, derived from the processed EM2040 Mark II bathymetry data, using Qimera and CARIS HIPS and SIPS software. A detailed report on the survey is provided in: Ocean Infinity Pty Ltd. 2022. Report of Survey: Norfolk Island Nearshore and Coastal Habitat Mapping. Ocean Infinity Group Limited. This dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes. This dataset is published with the permission of the CEO, Geoscience Australia.
Statement:
AusSeabed follows the recommended processing methodology as prescribed by the AusSeabed Multibeam Guidelines. Please note that certain products are subject to routine update (e.g. resolution, coverage, temporal variation, guidelines/best practice). The client is advised to refer to the latest version of all documents and products for the mostup-to-date material. For eCat records the version is expressed in the record title whilst products incorporate date of production as per AusSeabed’s file naming convention.
This surface is a 30 metre Shoal Depth True Position (SDTP) surface derived from International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) Order 1A, 1 and 2 metre Combined Uncertainty and Bathymetry Estimator (CUBE) surfaces supplied to the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO), with depth, position, density and uncertainty preserved from the original surface.
Full resolution surfaces available from AHO on request under restricted licence.

Processing methodology:
The bathymetric dataset was acquired onboard with Qinsy. First part of the processing worflow was undertaken with Qimera as follow:
1. QPD generation
2. Raytracing with earest in distance withing time
3. Tide correction
4. TPU application
5. Data cleaning
6. QC
7. GSF Export
Second part of the processing workflow was undertaken with Caris Hips & Sips as follows:
1. GSF import
2. Surface Processing
a. Cube surface generation
b. 100% surface check
c. Crossline analysis
d. QC reports
e. Surface finalisation
f. SIC final surface check
4. Export surface as a 32-bit floating Geotiff at 1 m resolustion, referenced to MSL, WGS 84 (EPSG:4326).
