Associate Professor Sue Wright is Australian President of AFAANZ (Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand) for 2011-2013. Sue has been a director of AFAANZ since 2005, and has served as Treasurer, Research Director, and as Co-Director of the AFAANZ Doctoral Symposium since 2007. Prior to entering academia, Sue worked in policy areas related to bank supervision and reporting for several years with the Reserve Bank of Australia. Her PhD examined the comparative information content of accounting and share prices for Australian banks 1960-1990. Sue is a member of the Consultative Advisory Group to the IFAC (International Federation of Accountants) board, IAESB (International Accounting Education Standards Board). She currently serves as Acting Head of Department of Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies and on the Faculty Board. Her previous administrative roles include Academic Senate, Faculty Research Committee, and Deputy Head of Department. In 2007 she was awarded an Outstanding Service Award by Macquarie University, in recognition of her long-term commitment to the work of the university and her achievements. As a regular author on papers in the areas of corporate governance, capital markets, earnings quality, and financial reporting, Sue is an active higher degree supervisor of students in the honours, masters and PhD programs in these topic areas. She is also the co-author of several Australian textbooks, on financial statement analysis, investments, and introductory accounting.
