Mary Drikas is the Manager of the Water Treatment and Distribution team within Research and Innovation Services in SA Water. She has been leading water treatment studies in the Australian Water Quality Centre since 1987 and has over 30 years experience in this field. She was also the Program Leader of the Water Technology Program nationally within the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Quality and Treatment, from when it was formally established in July 1995 to its official completion in June 2008. She has been involved in research of a variety of processes including coagulation, disinfection, activated carbon and more recently membrane systems. She is a co-patent holder for the application of magnetic anion exchange resin (MIEX) for the removal of natural organic matter. She has also lead projects developing methods for determining assimilable organic carbon and characterising natural organic matter. In recent years this has lead to the obvious link with distribution system management and developing better understanding and tools to control these two inter-related fields. She has co-authored over 100 scientific papers.User Contributed Tags
