Archaeological Management Plan for Armidale (AMPA) (European sites) [ 2003-03-01 - 2010-11-30 ]

Research Project

Researchers: Dr Pam Watson (Principal investigator)

Full description

This project was in partnership with Armidale Dumaresq Council and the NSW Heritage Office (now the Heritage Branch of the Office of Environment and Heritage). Archaeological sites within the City of Armidale were systematically identified from historical documentation. They were then recorded, mapped and assessed for their current condition, significance and potential. There are individual entries for each site in the New England Archaeology online database. The fields and data are compatible with the NSW State Heritage Inventory.

The results were integrated with the Armidale Dumaresq Local Environment Plan for reference in strategic planning and development (2012, Schedule 5).

This project contributed to the New England Archaeology collection held by the Heritage Futures Research Centre, University of New England.

Data time period: 1830-01-01 to 2013-07-23
