abstract: This is reference surface, derived from a contracted survey conducted for the Australian Hydrographic Office for the purpose of calibrating multibeam echosounders. It was collected as part of the Hydroscheme Industry Partnership Program. The survey area lies between Gantheaume Point and Talboys Rock, Broome WA.
Lineage (Description): "This surface is a 0.5 metre Shoal Depth True Position (SDTP) surface derived from International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) Special Order survey, with an 0.5 metre Combined Uncertainty and Bathymetry Estimator (CUBE) surfaces supplied to the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO), with depth, position, density and uncertainty preserved from the original surface.
AHO Reference Surfaces are created for use as a reference surface for calibration of MBES systems. The AHO recommends using them in their native coordinate reference system, as reprojection algorithms may introduce spatial errors. Therefore, this dataset is only available for download from AHO."

vertical-reduction-method: The data was collected using the native GNSS coordinate system, and converted to Ellipsoidal Height (ELL) by the contractor. The data were reduced from GNSS coordinates to Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT) using an AHO-approved tidal model based on observed tides and adjusted to Mean Sea Level (MSL) by AHO.

Processing methodology:
This dataset was produced using CARIS HIPS & SIPS as follow:
1. Processed in accordance with HIPP SOR 2020v 1.2 using CUBE techniques, 0.5m CUBE surfaces generated as the final L3 product (a gridded surface derived from cleaned point data).
2. Data was provided to Geoscience Australia for publication.
3. The final processed grid was exported as a 32-bit floating point Geotiff at 0.5m resolution, referenced to MSL, ITRF2014 GRS80 UTM Zone 51S.
