Full description
The Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade was established on 1 April 2022 (1) bringing together the state’s key cultural, sports, hospitality, entertainment and tourism agencies alongside its leading economic development and investment attraction organisations with the purpose of driving economic transformation and thriving communities by propelling the delivery of investment, business, lifestyle, entertainment, and cultural opportunities.
The Department did this by:
- Attracting and supporting future-focused industries such as the Clean Economy, Digital Technology, Modern Manufacturing, MedTech, Agribusiness, Visitor Economy and International Education, and Defence and Aerospace.
- Creating active and culturally rich communities across NSW, with access to local sporting programs and facilities and world class Cultural Institutions.
- Ensuring a dynamic, fun, safe and responsible Hospitality and Racing industry and vibrant 24-hour cities.
- Building an economic powerhouse in the Western Parkland City, creating jobs and opportunities for future generations.
- Catalysing research and development, commercialisation, and entrepreneurship through strong partnerships with business and research communities. (2)

On 1 July 2022, Investment NSW became a group under the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade. (4)
The Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade was renamed as the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport on the 1 July 2024. (5)
